The Deans Bio.

2003 – 2005

In 2003 The Dean Brothers, Gary & Gavin, with a close friend form a band called ‘Paradox’ running through covers of everyone from Nirvana to Thin Lizzy. As the band progressed so did their musical tastes and began interpreting a more eclectic mix of classic rock and blues artists such as Rory Gallagher, Nina Simone and several traditional blues maestros. In early 2005 The Deans brothers decide to add a singer and started working Ireland’s pub circuit at the tender ages of 15 and 16 under the guise of HUSH. They soon release a four track EP of their own material called ‘Made In Athenry’. This was the first ever original recording by an Athenry band. As the band advanced the Dean Brothers wanted to concentrate more on their own songs and such a decision was split due to career differences and they parted way with their drummer and singer.

The Deans are a Blues/Rock trio from Galway, Ireland. At the early age of 18 and 19 they are already veterans of the road. They have just released their third album called “The Album” and have been rapidly developing a reputation at venues throughout Ireland, The Uk, Switzerland and France. At a sold out gig in London in 2006 renowned Thin Lizzy and David Gilmore producer Kit Woolven turned up to see the band play. He was so impressed Woolven immediately offered to work with The Deans, subsequently they recorded and played with some of the most prestigious rock and guitar legends including, Henry McCullough (Joe Cocker and Wings) Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy) Jackie McCauley (Them, Rick Wakeman) and Johnny Fean (Horslips). Henry McCullough talks of global recognition for the young band. The teenage blues explosion of The Deans took off after appearing at the Ballyshannon International Rory Gallagher festival in 2006 where in front of 2000 people they caused traffic chaos as people stopped to watch their blistering performance. In February 2007 they won the Irish world award in London for best new band. Since then The Deans have performed to crowds of up to 10,000 people at the prestigious Guitar-en-Scene festival in Geneva (September 2007) and headlined the festival opening night in September 2008 on a bill which included legends such as Dr. Feelgood and Alvin Lee (Ten Years After). Their music was used for the advertising campaign for the festival and was heard by millions of TV viewers and radio listeners all over France and Switzerland. Under the influence of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, Cream and Taste to name but a few, The Deans can delight their audience with a high energy show full of guitar mastery which immerses you into the heart of the music. With the release of their new album throughout Europe, The Deans are looking to promote themselves by planning a tour for 2009.
