The young guitarist/composer from Barcelona, Andreu Martinez, brings a highly original blend of jazz-funk-fusion-rock-crossover and is certainly one of the most versatile and powerful musicians nowadays. His influences vary from great artists like BB King, Wes Montgomery and Jeff Beck to Muse, Coldplay or Aerosmith.
From his 14th he absorbs everything from the jazz, blues and rock scene. He enters Barcelona’s “Aula de Jazz y Musica Moderna in 1994, graduating a year later with honours and begins his professional career playing with numerous groups on the local scene. He soon begins experimenting with the fusion of jazz with blues, rock and funk, discovering more contemporary musicians such as Bill Frisell, Scott Henderson, Pat Metheny and Robben Ford who have a great influence on him.
In 2001 he moves to New York to broaden his musical knowhow and learn from the musicians in the big apple, and on his return from the states he records his first album “Senyales de Vida” (K-Industria) with his band, the ANDREU MARTINEZ PROJECT, with Jordi Franco on bass and Pere Foved on drums. Its ten eclectic compositions reflect the beginning of his search for his own style and sound.
The album “live at the Festival International de Jazz de Lleida” proved that Andreu Martinez definitely found his own voice : gripping compositions and superb guitar playing backed by a strong and groovy rhythm section.
The latest album ‘Fast Food’, released in 2007 (Batiendo Records), is a record - in his own words - “much more mature than the other ones”. The main musical line is jazz but he doesn't refuse funk or rock and a lot of improvisations which sound more intense than ever, and features the great Charlie Wood on some tracks. Recorded in only a few days in the Music Lan Studios in Figueras, in spirit it is almost a 'live' recording, a circumstance that makes it sound fresh and spontaneous from the first time you listen to it.
Andreu Martinez is currently working on a new album, in the same vein but adding his voice on some tracks, which will be released in 2008.

El jove guitarrista / compositor de Barcelona, Andreu Martínez, ofereix una barreja molt original de jazz-funk-fusió-rock-crossover i és sens dubte un dels músics més versàtils i potents en l'actualitat. Les seves influències varien de grans artistes com BB King, Wes Montgomery i Jeff Beck a Muse, Coldplay o Aerosmith.
Des de la seva 14 º que absorbeix tot, des del jazz, el blues i l'escena de rock. Entra a "Barcelona Aula de Jazz i Música Moderna el 1994, un any després de graduar-se amb honors i comença la seva carrera professional jugant amb nombrosos grups de l'escena local. Aviat comença a experimentar amb la fusió del jazz amb el blues, el rock i el funk, el descobriment dels músics més contemporanis com Bill Frisell, Scott Henderson, Pat Metheny i Robben Ford que tenen una gran influència en ell.
El 2001 es trasllada a Nova York per ampliar els seus coneixements musicals i aprendre dels músics de la gran poma, i, al seu retorn dels Estats grava el seu primer disc "Senyales de Vida" (K-Indústria) amb la seva banda, la ANDREU MARTINEZ DE PROJECTES, amb Jordi Franco al baix i Pere Foved a la bateria. Els seus deu composicions eclèctiques reflectir el començament de la recerca del seu propi estil i so.
L'àlbum "en viu al Festival Internacional de Jazz de Lleida" ha demostrat que Andreu Martínez definitivament trobar la seva pròpia veu: composicions d'adherència i excel · lent guitarra jugant recolzat per un fort i meravellós secció rítmica.
