Edwin "Buster" Pickens was born on June 3, 1916 in Hempstead, TX. In the late 1940's up until 1964 he appeared on many recordings as a pianist backing Lightnin' Hopkins and other Houston musicians. In 1960, and '61 he was recorded as a solo artist by Chris Strachwitz, Paul Oliver and Mack McCormick. Almost 40 recordings were made by him but maybe half of those were ever issued. Pickens was murdered in Houston on November 24, 1964
