DANIEL SMITH

    DANIEL SMITH,  Es un dels millors pianistes i compositors anglesos de jazz y Boogie-Woogie actuals, segons la premsa Británica, va apendre del seu oncle que era alemá-indonesi que va ser qui li va fer agafar l´afició escoltant els gran mestres del génere. Malgrat ser anglés, va estudiar a Amsterdam , per després tralladarse amb la seva familia a Escocia. 

Daniel Smith is described as the world's greatest Dutch-Indonesian-Anglo-Scottish blues and boogie woogie piano player - and it's probably true! He learnt boogie woogie from his Dutch-Indonesian uncle on regular visits to Holland, his mother's family having emigrated there post-War from Jakarta, Indonesia, where his maternal grandfather had been a jazz piano player as well as an official in the Dutch colonial civil service. 

Daniel's Warrington-born father, the artist Bryan Smith, also inspired the young Daniel (having met Daniel's mother whilst studying in Amsterdam and moving with his young family to Dollar, Scotland to take up a teaching post) with his record collection of Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis and Memphis Slim LPs as well as the boogie greats such as Pete Johnson, Albert Ammons and Jimmy Yancey.

His medley of Barrel House Piano was recorded at The Harp Hotel, Albrighton, Shropshire, England on Sunday, February 28th. 2010 by Daniel Smith on the upright piano.
Daniel was in with his Blues Band and the line-up was Jon T-Bone Taylor on guitar, Andy Jones on bass and Peter Miles on drums.
Once again a brilliant gig at the Harp where sessions are held every Sunday lunchtime and Tuesday evening.
