LAYLA ZOE

Named "Canada's Darling of the Blues" by the press and often compared to Janis Joplin for her raw and emotional performances on stage, Layla Zoe was born in British Columbia, Canada in the late 70's. Raised on her father's love of the blues and a diverse record collection, she started singing at an early age and had her first experiences on stage with her father's band at age fourteen. Releasing seven studio albums (You Will, Shades of Blue, Live at Errington Hall, Hoochie Coochie Woman, The Firegirl, Sleep Little Girl and The Lily), touring throughout Canada and Europe, and performing with artists such as Jeff Healey, Susan Tedeschi and Sonny Landreth, has gained her a reputation as one of the hardest working blues women on the scene today.

Following a win at the Compo10 Blues Songwriting Competition in Finland in 2006, Layla began touring Europe and has made a name for herself on festival stages in Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Republic , Austria, and most recently the Netherlands and UK. Her collaborations with german guitarist Henrik Freischlader who produced the albums "Sleep Little Girl" (2011) and "The Lily" (2013) on his record label Cable Car Records, have brought Layla's name into the spotlight on the European blues scene. "The Lily" garnished critical acclaim for the young blues siren, going as far as rating in Downbeat Magazine's "Best Albums of 2014."

Layla's latest release, the double album "Live at Spirit of 66" released in 2015 on Cable Car Records has received outstanding reviews for showcasing Layla's raw and powerful live show with her current band featuring Jan Laacks on guitar, Gregor Sonnenberg on bass and Hardy Fischoetter on drums.
