BOYD RIVERS
In his Facebook :
"Boyd Rivers was born on December 25, 1934, in Madison County, Mississippi. He was brought up in the church by his mother and was influenced by regional musicians such as Clyde Maxwell and others, as well as his uncle, the gospel legend Reverend Cleophus Robinson.
Rivers started out on two nails and a wire on a wall, and played the blues guitar as early as 13, but changed to spirituals around the age of 19.
[...]
Rivers' vocal strength and guitar dexterity are what truly set him apart from many of his contemporaries, although he is often compared to the late Reverend Charlie Jackson, from Baton Rouge, LA. Rivers' spiritual conviction also adds to the strength of his performances.
Boyd Rivers died in Jackson, Mississippi, on November 22, 1993. This is the first full length recording produced for him. As you will hear, it's long overdue."
