DENISE GORDON
Proudly influenced by her Nevisian heritage, UK born Gospel and soulful Jazz singer Denise Gordon has performed on the International scene for over 20 years. Her inspiration stems from the gospel music of her Caribbean roots and New Orleans influences of Mahalia Jackson and Louis Armstrong, which place her unequivocally in the mainstream of the Afro-American musical tradition.
Her journey began at the age of 3. Taught by her mother she began singing in her local gospel church. By Age 11 she was a Lead Singer performing in large Choirs at the National Conventions and leading her own girl group in front of thousands as a pre-teen.
Denise has toured throughout the larger concert halls and festivals of Europe singing Blues, Jazz, Gospel and Rhythm ‘n’ Blues. She has performed at Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Jubilee, at both Glastonbury and “T” in the Park and gave an acappella performance for Pope John Paul II before an audience of a quarter of a million people.
This sought after vocalist has performed & recorded with world-class musicians from New York, New Orleans and from around the European and UK Jazz & Blues Scene.
Having spent many years establishing a varied international diary, 2018 kicked-off at the home of Jazz in the UK, where Denise made special guest appearances in London’s legendary Ronnie Scotts venue
Denise Gordon can “take you to church” from Big Band to intimate Duo combo with a natural swing thing… that’s why they call her The Gospel Diva…
