TOMY G. THOMPSON
Over those years my subjects have been those which stimulated my imagination; providing the natural vitality and motivation to advance toward ever more meaningful paintings and drawings. It became a way of life that continues to add richness to the everyday experience by opening a curious awareness of the mind and spirit. As a youth I first noted this after viewing the exceptional art displayed in our local museum. Simply viewing masterful creations can open the eyes as a portal between your soul, mind and the real world. Sensitivity of perception and deeper awareness is a treasure and a fundamental value of all the arts and through the artist we all share in the experience. It is truly a joy to become a participant in this realm…. so for me, being an artist is an ongoing celebration of life.
This online gallery brings you a nice collection of subjects and themes. Jazz musicians in those great old clubs and cafes of New Orleans is large category. Friends sharing a laid back afternoon amid the vintage setting of a lovely courtyard. A cast of unique characters living out a day in the shadow of iron laced and charmingly fashioned French Quarter buildings. There's one classic wooden sailboat moored on the Tchefuncte river that had me daydreamin'. Salty lighthouses from summer treks up North. Desperados and painted ladies from the Old West along with pirates and their like that keep the fun kid in me alive. Springtime usually warms the heart to paint those glorious wildflowers. Tomorrow, who knows what is going to get the sketch pad and pencil out or the pen point and brushes wet. Life has its ups and downs, no doubt about that, but here we celebrate the good in life and this is your invitation to join in the fun.
