Bloos Records is proud to announce the new album of Corey Harris, one of the great blues artists in the world:

On November 5th, 2021 “THE INSURRECTION BLUES” will be released,the 20th album by the legendary bluesman and acoustic guitar master.

This work, published and distributed by Bloos Records, will be available in record stores, digitally and physically online, and on the website www.bloosrecords.com.

This is the latest album of the singer, guitarist and composer who from 1995 to today has recorded and played with many of the most important names in the world blues scene such as BB King, Taj Mahal, Buddy Guy, RLBurnside, Ali Farka Toure, Dave Matthews Band, Tracy Chapman, Olu Dara, Wilco and others, performing throughout North America, Europe, Brazil, the Caribbean, East and West Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

Three years after his last album release, the artist returns with an acoustic work containing 14 compositions including unpublished and reinterpretations of songs belonging to the Afro-American tradition. Recorded live and performed exclusively for voice and guitar, the album best embodies the spirit of the Blues in its most essential and primordial form.

"The Insurrection Blues" is the result of a session performed on May 21, 2021 in Atri, in Abruzzo, the place where the artist lived during the pandemic before returning to the United States. The record also sees the collaboration of the harmonica player, Phil Wiggins and the mandolinist Lino Muoio on two tracks that make up the album.

Throughout his career Harris has received numerous honors, including the MacArthur Fellowship Award for Genius - from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and the "Honorary Doctorate" in Music from Bates College in Maine. He starred in Scorsese's "Feel Like Going Home" and collaborated with Billy Bragg on the "Mermaid Avenue" album series.

In "The Insurrection Blues" Harris brings with him a message based on the deeply disturbing events that took place in Washington DC on January 6, 2021. Although the songs contained on the disc are not explicitly connected to these events, the mood and feelings that arose in him had still influenced the entire album.
