PIERCE DIPNER







Pierce Dipner is a young Blues Musician and multi-instrumentalist from Pittsburgh, PA. At the young age of 8 he started to play the guitar and sing. By age 9 he was also playing bass, drums, and cello. At 11 he discovered the Blues at a Youth Blues jam hosted by the Blues Society of Western PA and he has been hooked ever since. At the age of 13 he was selected by the BSWPA to perform in the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee where he got to showcase his talents at Mr. Handy’s Blues Hall on Beale Street. When Pierce returned to Pittsburgh, he began performing around Pittsburgh and surrounding areas and hasn’t stopped. In 2019 he returned to Memphis to once again represent the BSWPA at the International Blues Challenge. While there he had the opportunity to perform with numerous Grammy nominated Blues artists during the Annual Generation Blues Fundraiser held at the Memphis Hard Rock Cafe.​

 


Pierce has shared the stage with many of the premier Blues and Rock musicians in Pittsburgh playing at local venues, charity events and music festivals such as the Heritage Music Bluesfest, WYEP Summer Music Festival, Pittsburgh Blues and Roots Festival, Tall City Blues Fest in Midland Texas and TD Kitchener Blues Festival in Canada. Pierce has been featured on Pittsburgh Today Live, WDVE Radio, Saturday Light Brigade, WYEP’s Rollin and Tumblin, Good Day PA!, PA Live, and on Vinny Marini’s “Music On The Couch”. WYEP, a local radio station, had selected Pierce as one of their young musicians to participate in the 2018-2019 Reimagination Recording Project, which gave him his first taste of recording. Case in point: Pierce's debut EP, "Get Out Of Your Life" comprises 4 tracks featuring 3 originals and a classic cover. The EP is gaining international airplay, receiving great reviews, and is featured on many Blues charts.




In the summer of 2018, Pierce formed his first band, Pierce Dipner and the Shades Of Blue. The band offers an eclectic and personalized mix of originals and covers of Blues, Rock, and Soul favorites. Pierce as a solo artist has opened for Nick Moss and for Toronzo Cannon. Likewise, Pierce and his band have opened for Brandon ‘Taz’ Niederauer and Albert Cummings.

 


Recently, Pierce has won 3rd place in the 2021 CB Gitty International Cigar Box Guitar Video Playoffs after placing top 10 in the 2020 Samantha Fish International Cigar Box Guitar Video Playoffs (also through CB Gitty), has won the Blues Society of Western Pennsylvania Jim Weber Guitarist Award, has had his band named as one of the top 10 Blues bands by the Pittsburgh City Paper, and also with his band, finished first in the best band category in the Blues Society of Western Pennsylvania Blues Challenge to represent them in the 2022 International Blues Challenge.

 ​In early January 2022 Pierce released his long-awaited full-length album titled “Goin’ Back”. In the first few weeks of release, it has reached the top of the Blues and Blues Rock Charts, while being the number 1 album across all genres in Pennsylvania (Roots Music Report). The album consists of 7 originals and 3 covers which all show distinct differences and stylings. Receiving airplay and accolades across the world, Goin’ Back is a must listen album for any music fan, especially those with a passion for the Blues.
