LARA PRICE

 Lara Price is a survivor…

Born in the war torn country of Vietnam in 1975 and abandoned at birth, Lara became a part of the controversial “Operation Baby Lift”, a mass evacuation of orphans from South Vietnam to the United States. As 90 percent of the orphaned babies did not survive, her journey out of Vietnam to her new home was nothing short of a miracle. Indeed, Lara is truly a survivor in every sense.

Price discovered the power of music at the tender age of 6, when she started
taking piano lessons in England with legendary 80’s music innovator Howard
Jones. At the age of 12 she found her singing voice. Price was influenced and
encouraged by her junior high and high school choir teacher, Blake Olmstead. She
continued her vocal studies operatically with Dr. Lynn Berg at BSU. She arrived
in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1997 to pursue her dream of singing in a band.
By 1998, Price began running her own blues jam at JJ’s Blues in San Jose, and
was featured in an inspiring article about blues jams in the September issue of
the Blues Revue Magazine.
The journey of Lara’s blues band (The Lara Price Band) includes tours across the
United States and China. It also includes five CD’s that Price has produced,
co-written, and is featured playing drums, guitar, and back up vocals. Lara and
her band have shared the bill with R&B legends, Etta James, James Brown, Buddy
Guy, Leon Russell and many more.

Like many full time musicians, Lara fronts and leads several musical projects:
Lara Unplugged, an acoustic duo; Velvet Plum, a popular top 40’s party band, Militia of Love, a Cali-Reggae band; The
Lara Price Band, a rootsy rockin’ blues band and the Lara Price Blues Revue a
fantastic 10 piece R&B show band, and Girls Got the Blues. This is an all-star cast of female talent that has come together to make musical magic! As of late Lara’s 6th record, “I Mean Business”. Was picked up by The VizzTone Label Group and was released to the world November, 2015. The release turned the heads of the Blues Foundation. Lara now resides in Austin, Texas and has received a blues music nomination for Soul Blues Female Artist 2017!

She’s an All American singer with a sultry stage presence and a voice that
demands your attention- smoky, lonely, sexy, and powerful. It’s no wonder her
music transcends the blues and crosses a line into music that is unequivocally
superb.
