La historia de MIKE VERNON es riquísima en los aspectos de producción ( ver lista -wikipedia-) que os ofrecemos mas abajo, además de músico ( diferentes grupos) etc.etc. es por ello que felicitamos a la SOCIETAT DE BLUES DE BARCELONA y en concreto a su presidenta BIG MAMA MONTSE por la iniciativa.
Diremos que por cuestiones diversas nos fué imposible asistir al evento.
Nos valemos de la gente que sí asistió y que corrabora lo interesante de la exposición de Vernon , (corta ) según Miquel Botella ( Periodista docto , experimentado y especializado en música con raíces ) que lamenta la falta de asistencia a tan interesante oportunidad de conocer detalles del impresionante background del productor.
Como bien dice el mismo Botella en su reflexión , un pozo de sabiduría , merecía mucha mas atención, con lo cual estamos absolutamente de acuerdo.
Desde nuestro punto de vista personal relacionado con la mayoría de eventos, festivales, actuaciones , etc. etc. que se montan en nuestra ciudad alrededor de la música con raíces, Blues, R&B , y otras, más de una de las actuaciones en nuestra ciudad pinchan , no siempre consiguen el lleno , como el caso de ayer por ejemplo, es una lástima que medios informativos, ya no digo los generales, si no los musicales , pasan olímpicamente de todo cuanto sucede en la escena de este género de música. Unicamente consiguen datos de asistencia considerables los FESTIVALES INTERNACIONALES DE BLUES , tanto los locales como los que se celebran en el resto del pais Sin ir mas lejos esta tarde nos visitan en el Centro Cultural Coll Blanc la Torrassa dos pesos pesados como son Tia Carroll & Alabama Mike dentro del CICLE DE BLUES & BOOGIE Está claro que se siguen caminos paralelos entre lo popular , lo que vende (ó lo que pide el público , claro ) , que lo que se ciñe al género con historia legendaria , eso es Blues, R&B , Country , Americana...etc. lo cual es una verdadera lástima .Aprovechando que el otoño viene cargadito de buenas actuaciones en la escena local os animamos a daros una vuelta por los diferentes sitios en donde podéis encontrar este tipo de info.

Michael William Hugh Vernon MBE (born 20 November 1944) is an English music executive studio owner, and record producer from Harrow, Middlesex. He produced albums for British blues artists and groups in the 1960s, working with the Bluesbreakers, David Bowie, Duster Bennett, Savoy Brown, Chicken Shack, Climax Blues Band, Eric Clapton, Fleetwood Mac, Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, John Mayall, Christine McVie and Ten Years After amongst others.
Biography
Vernon is best known as founder of the blues record label, Blue Horizon. He worked at Decca Records starting in 1963, and produced the Mayall-Clapton collaboration Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton (1966).
In 1967, he produced David Bowie's debut album for Deram Records.[4] The 1971 Blue Horizon release Bring It Back Home featured Paul Kossoff and Rory Gallagher, each appearing on one track. Two years later, Vernon released a solo album, Moment of Madness, on Sire Records. He was also a member of Olympic Runners (1974–1979) and acted as producer for them. He was a producer and member of Rocky Sharpe and the Replays (1979–1983). With the Replays he sang bass under the pseudonym of Eric Rondo. He founded the Indigo and Code Blue record labels in the 1990s.
Vernon came out of retirement to produce Dani Wilde's album Shine, and the second album by the British blues prodigy, Oli Brown. Brown's album entitled Heads I Win, Tails You Lose was released in March 2010.
In October 2013, Vernon was rewarded with a BASCA Gold Badge Award, ] in recognition of his unique contribution to music.
On 7 September 2018, Vernon's first album on Manhaton Records, Beyond The Blues Horizon, was released. It featured twelve tracks, including nine new self-penned originals, and three covers from the catalogues of Brook Benton, Mose Allison and Clarence "Frogman" Henry. The release was supported by a European tour under the billing of 'Mike Vernon & The Mighty Combo'. Vernon's band, The Mighty Combo, consisted of Kid Carlos (guitar), Ian Jennings (upright bass), Matt Little (keyboards), Paul Tasker (saxophone) and Mike Hellier (drums).
Vernon was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2020 Birthday Honours for services to music.
