Arnaud Fradin & His Roots Combo
Explosive Nantes guitarist and sensitive singer with devastating falsetto, Arnaud Fradin today benefits from an aura that transcends the borders of France. Depuis deux decades, Arnaud has écumé the European and American soul-blues scenes, having acquired his art aprés des meilleurs maîtres de Memphis et du Mississippi. Malted Milk, the group of which he is the leader, has established himself over the years among the most prominent soul/funk formations of the moment by conquering the audiences of the biggest festivals (Jazz à Vienne, Paris Jazz Festival, Cognac Blues Passion , Marciac, Jazz à La Villette, Nancy Jazz Pulsations...).
This spectacular success never diverted Arnaud from his roots. Three years ago, in parallel with his work at Malted Milk and with the singer from Memphis, Toni Green, he decided to return to his first loves: the Mississippi blues plus "roots". En pleine complicité avec the virtuoso harmonicist Thomas Troussier, he imagined a duo in homage to the maîtres du genre. In passing, he launched the foundations of the ROOTS COMBO.
At the end of three seasons of intimate concerts, the desire to enrich the duo of colors and rhythms was realized with the arrival of Igor Pichon (double bass) and Richard Housset (percussions). Igor and Richard, beyond their flawless groove, possessing a creative sense and a taste for arrangements that give an original identity to this all-acoustic quartet.
Enrolling in a soft and mellow rhythmic decor, Arnaud and Thomas leave free course to improvisations inhabited where slide and harmonica riffs cross, au travers d'un repertory dans lequel cohabitent avec chaleur Lightnin' Hopkins, Muddy Waters , ou encore Skip James.
The ROOTS COMBO recipe, a savory gumbo of raw emotion and fresh blue roots, is both simple and terribly effective. A true source of youth, plus originality.
