Nothing is known about Leroy Johnson other than he was from Texas. Johnson only recorded one 78 and is not to be confused with LeRoy Johnson who recorded for OKeh in 1951.

This song is based on "My Gal Is Gone" composed and recorded by Hudson "Tampa Red" Whittaker in 1937.
