CHARLIE " DAD " NELSON

Composed by Charlie Nelson
Not a lot is known about Charlie Nelson. He may have been from the deep East Texas region as he makes a reference to Beaumont in this song. Or he may have been from a Louisiana town just a few miles away over the state line. Wherever he hailed from, he managed to travel to Chicago in some form or fashion to record. He had three recording sessions between September of 1926 and April of 1927 recording eight sides, that were all issued on four records. He may have not been the most prolific blues artist of the 1920's, but what he left behind are recordings that are highly sought out by 78 RPM collectors. He was billed under other names such as "Dad Nelson and his Guitar" and just simply "Dad Nelson" on some of his releases.
