Crowned the African King of the Blues by the Siphiwe Msimango Foundation in June 2023, Smoke continues to contribute to blues music on the African continent by using his talent and passion for the music but also highlights his role as a cultural ambassador for the genre in Africa.
The release of his debut album, "Bluesman Baby", in 2022 is a significant milestone in his career. The album's theme and story about an authentic hardcore bluesman, who lives by his own rules showcases Smoke's dedication to preserving the essence of the blues and its rich history. His ability to infuse the blues with a subtle African influence and his unique sound has resonated with audiences.
The establishment of The Smoke Train Blues Movement SA, where he invites local blues artists and blues artists from countries he's performed in where he takes them on tours of Gauteng, shows his passion for cultural exchange and respect for different traditions. This initiative not only promotes the blues but also fosters connections between artists from diverse backgrounds, enriching the global blues community.
Smoke is a resident artist at both Protea Marriott Wanderers and Protea Marriott Midrand in Gauteng, South Africa.
