THE LADY JOYA BAND
The Lady Joya Band is the latest project for Cincinnati favorite Lady Joya. Backed by Daria Dawn and five seasoned musicians, she delivers R&B favorites with the style and sizzle that took her to Memphis as the vocalist for The Juice, representing the Cincinnati Blues Society in the 2013 International Blues Challenge. Her exuberant stage presence and powerful, soulful voice continue to delight audiences with her interpretations of the great R&B tunes from the likes of Etta James, Nina Simone, Koko Taylor and many others. Lady Joya aka “Angel of the Blues” as deemed by her adoring fans. Lady Joya lights up the room with her effervescent personality and beautiful smile. Her career began as a member of The Red Hounds Blues Band where she was a co-Writer and lead vocalist on selections on the album “Red hounds and Friends”. This studio project ranked #1 on Reverbnation.com, which highlights local bands worldwide. After a citywide search, Lady Joya was chosen to be lead vocalist for the blues band The Juice, formerly known as “II Juicy”. She is featured as lead vocalist on The Juice CD entitled Once in a Blue Moon. The Juice has won the Cincinnati Blues Challenge and represented the Cincinnati Blues Society at the International Blues Challenge held in Memphis, TN. Lady Joya w/The Juice competed for two days against bands from around the world, eventually making it to the semifinals. Lady Joya cohosted “The Cincy Blues Hour” with “Magic Mitch” on WAIF, 88.3 FM Radio Station. This allowed her to not only play albums of her Blues family/friends, but also share albums to which she has lent her voice, i.e., The Red Hounds-Red Hounds and Friends, The Juice- Once in a Blue Moon, The Howard Brothers- Go A Lil’ Faster, Grooveshire- American Son, The Soulfixers- Fix it Up, and The Summit self-titled cd- The Summit.
