BERNICE MASALA * VILLAIN *
Bernice is a multi-award winning singer/songwriter who studied music and audio production in college and graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s in Music Business. She is originally from Sycamore, IL and now resides in the Nashville, TN area with her husband and kids. Her early works are primarily in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter genres. She has since leaned more into Alternative Rock and Pop, but based on the stylistic variety of her songwriting catalog, some would say that she's in a genre of her own.
Her debut album, "Save Me," was released in 2020, displaying her unique style of infectious melodies and intricate lyricism. True to her origins, the production of the songs on this album clearly showcases how these songs were originally written – with the focus on her empowered vocals and hypnotic guitar parts.
Over the next couple of years she released several singles while continuing to extend her reach and grow her fanbase. She began deviating from the softer writing style that her audience had grown accustomed to, and released “Little Fires.” It received airplay on numerous radio stations worldwide, and made the Top Ten for "Best Alternative Song" and "Best Music Video Production" in the World Songwriting Awards.
With the beginning of 2023 came her single, "Burgundy," and her second album of the same title was released that spring. This album contains all of the singles she released from 2021 to the beginning of 2023, as well as a few previously unreleased tracks.
Bernice was voted the International Singer Songwriter Association’s (ISSA) Folk Artist of the Month in 2022, and took home the Bronze award for Female Songwriter of the Year at the annual ISSA Awards the following year.
To close out 2023, her single, "Lights Out," was awarded Best Pop Song in the World Songwriting Awards.
In August of 2024, the "Burgundy" album won the Gold award for Female Album of the Year at the ISSA Awards. Her next single to follow, "Architecture," premiered in the NAS Top 20 show at #1, holding that spot for two weeks in a row! It has quickly become her newest fan favorite.
In her personal life, she just recently gave birth to her second child, a baby boy, and is enjoying this time with her family while working on new music.
