DANIEL ANDERSON AND HEROIC DOSE * THAT'S THE TRUTH *

That's The Truth, a J.B. Hutto cover, was recorded and mixed over the course of two days during the week following our two performances at fall Shakori Hills Grassroots. It was all done right from my humble home studio. I played all of the instruments myself on this recording, starting with the drums, then layering bass, followed by multiple guitar tracks, and sprinkling a bit of organ and piano in the background to taste. The next day I started tracking vocals and tried multiple microphones, none of which captured the vibe of the track until I plugged in a $10 Radio Shack microphone that I bought from facebook marketplace. From there it was a quick and dirty DIY mastering job and the track was uploaded!

Daniel Anderson - Guitar, Bass guitar, Drums, Piano, Organ, Vocals, Mixing, Mastering

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Daniel Anderson grew up in rural North Carolina absorbing a diverse range of music from blues, to gospel, to country, to hip-hop. Having been bitten by the music bug at a young age, there were always toy guitars, drum sets, and keyboards around, but it wasn't until age 11 that Daniel convinced his mother to buy him his first real electric guitar. A few months later, his father took his own life, leaving music as more than just a means of artistic expression. It became a lifeline, a coping mechanism, and the one thing he could count on to always be there.

In his early teens, Daniel began listening to groups that were responsible for the British blues revival of the 60's, and from there he worked backwards and became immersed the sounds of Delta and Hill Country blues, especially keen on Robert Johnson, Son House, Blind Willie Johnson, R.L. Burnside, and T-Model Ford, the latter of which he was able to share the stage with. In 2003, a chance encounter with Derek Trucks would lead Daniel to make slide guitar a big part of his repertoire, and one that has served him well since.

He played mostly around NC, SC, and VA until 2009 when he took a touring gig with a signed artist, but in 2010 decided to focus on teaching and gigging locally for the next few years. From 2015-2021 Daniel played gigs from coast to coast with multiple artists, also co-writing multiple songs that hit #1 on regional charts.

Despite being a sought after sideman, playing with multiple NC based groups including zydeco blues act "Mel Melton and The Wicked Mojos", Daniel decided to take control of his own destiny, culminating with the formation of "Daniel Anderson and Heroic Dose" in 2022. The group blends all of his blues influences with elements of psychedelia, roots-rock, and jammy improvisation. The group recently released their debut studio single, "Stuck With Trouble", which is currently available on all major streaming platforms.
