AMY CERVINI

Big Ears, Free Spirit

Singer Amy Cervini has the big ears and free spirit to reach far and wide for great material, whether it’s Rodgers & Hammerstein or Lyle Lovett, Blossom Dearie or Willie Nelson. Born in Toronto, and based in New York City since 2000, Amy's work is defined less by genre than by a distinctive approach to song interpretation. Drawn equally to jazz standards, contemporary songwriting, folk and country, she chooses material that resonates personally, then reshapes it through collaboration with the musicians around her.

Over the course of five solo albums (Famous Blue, Lovefool, Digging Me, Digging You, Jazz Country, and No One Ever Tells You) Cervini has built a body of work that reflects both curiosity and restraint. Amy finds new perspectives within popular repertoire, as well as off-the-beatn-path tunes, creating performances that feel both familiar and unexpected. Her recordings have earned recognition from publications including The New York Times, DownBeat, JazzTimes, The Globe and Mail, All About Jazz, and AllMusic.

Cervini is also a founding member of Duchess, the acclaimed vocal trio known for its close harmony singing and lively banter. Together they have released five albums, most recently A Marvelous Party, continuing a tradition of vocal jazz while bringing a fresh perspective to classic repertoire.

In addition to performing, Cervini has produced numerous recordings, including her brother Ernesto Cervini's Joy which was recognized with a JUNO Award nomination. Her recording of Song for the Mira was featured in Season 4 of Hallmark Channel’s The Way Home, and her voice was recently heard in a national LinkedIn advertising campaign.

Whether performing with Duchess, leading her own ensembles, or collaborating with fellow musicians, Cervini returns to the same starting point: a song/story that stays/resonates with her. From there, the performance is informed by her fellow musicians and the audience in the room, resulting in readings that are thoughtful, deeply collaborative, and unmistakably her own.
